If you’ve always wanted to take scuba diving lessons, experience unparalleled adventure and see the world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. Get your scuba diving certification with the PADI Open Water Diver course – the world’s most popular and widely recognized scuba course.
To enroll in a PADI Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course), you must be at least 10 years old. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.
What will you learn?
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:
Knowledge Development – this is done through independent study with the PADI Open Water Manual, watching the PADI Open Water Videos, and sessions with your instructor. You will complete Knowledge Reviews, then discuss these with your instructor before taking a quiz. There are 5 sections, once you have worked through them all you will sit the final exam, which is multiple choice questions. You need to score 75% to pass, don’t stress out about this bit though, it’s not like the tests you did at school!
Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills – there are 5 confined water dives that we complete in very shallow water in the sea, each one of these is explained in the Knowledge Development section you will have read up on before the session. Your instructor will take the time to carefully explain each skill before demonstrating them for you. If you’re not quite comfortable with something, or you need extra time to practice, we will take things slowly and do them properly. We’re looking for you to master these skills, not simply get through the course.
In one of the sessions we will also need you to complete a 10 minute survival float, and a 200m swim.
Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore! – This is the fun part! During these 4 dives you will repeat some of the key skills you learnt in confined water, but this time in the sea! You will get the opportunity to dive from a boat on some of our fantastic sites around Cyprus and explore ship wrecks, roman ruins and more under the water.
After you have finished the course, you will be certified to dive to 18m with a buddy, without supervision from a professional.
