Open water Scuba diver Course (OWSD)

Experience unparalleled adventure and see the world beneath the waves – this is where it starts. The PADI OWSD Course is the world’s most popular and recognised Scuba course. To enrol in the Junior OWSD course you must be at least 10 years old to dive to 12m (15 years old to dive to 18m) and have adequate swimming skills and be in good physical health but no prior experience with scuba diving is required.

What will you learn? The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main sections:

Knowledge Development – Information is delivered 3 ways; independent study using the PADI Open Water Manual, watching the PADI Open Water DVDs and short classroom sessions with your instructor. You will complete Knowledge Reviews, and discuss these with your instructor before taking quizzes to confirm understanding. Once you have completed all 5 sections, you will be ready to complete the multi-choice final test scoring 75% to pass – no problem!

Confined Water (CW) Dives – basic skills – Five CW sessions are completed in shallow water in the pool or in the sea. Your instructor will carefully explain and demonstrate each skill and you will practice until you have mastered the techniques. A 200m swim & 10 min float is also completed.

Open Water (OW) Dives – use your skills and explore – The fun part! Four dives in the sea where you will repeat the key skills you learnt in CW but now in the open ocean! You will get the opportunity to dive at some of our fantastic training sites around Cyprus and explore underwater tunnels, meet the Mediterranean Sea life, see roman relics and much more. Upon completion, you will be certified as a PADI OWSD, a life qualification to dive to 18m with a buddy, without supervision anywhere in the world.
