Dive Master (DM)
The PADI DM course develops leadership abilities, enhances supervisory and demonstration skills and equips the candidate with the knowhow to effectively assist instructors with student divers. PADI DM is the first step on the Go-Pro ladder leading to PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) and PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) qualifications.
During the PADI DM program, knowledge development is encouraged through classroom and independent study. Water skill demonstration techniques are honed and stamina exercises performed to ensure physical capability. There is a focus on problem solving and organizational skills with emphasis on good dive safety practice, upholding PADI standards and promoting a professional ethos.
A qualified PADI DM is entitled to

Supervise qualified divers, plan, organise and direct daily diving activity.

Assist an PADI OWSI with students for any PADI Diver course.

Conduct the PADI Re-activate and PADI Discover Scuba Diving programs.

Prerequisites for DM development

PADI Advanced Open Water and PADI Rescue Diver.

Qualified Emergency First Responder (EFR) or equivalent First Aid Qualification completed within the past 24 months.

Have 40+ logged dives to enter training – achieve 60+ by course completion.

Be physically fit to dive with a current Medical Statement signed by a physician.
